After the death of my last shelter dog, I doubted I would want to go through losing another friend. However, as the years passed, I realized there was a feeling of loss. So, I scoured the local shelters to find an older dog who would want to share her life with me. I wanted one who was destined to be put down within 24 hours. So, there she was, a body matted with hair, toe nails so long that tapped the ground as she walked. Tics feasted on her body. That was the one. I found a diamond in the rough. After 5 years, she returned our kindness with love and loyalty. I hope to have many more years with this wonderful gal.
