We had lost our dog of 17 years and had an enormous hole in our hearts. Several months after her passing we began looking at adoptapet.com.

It took us about three weeks to find Nelly. She was a stray that had been picked up and was on her last week at a county-run pound. Someone working there put out a plea on Facebook for "someone to please come adopt this sweet little dog" and the group that we adopted her from answered.

She took some time to adjust to us but she is a sweet, loving, energetic rat terrier who can be a "big character" and we could not imagine our lives without her. I am so grateful that the rescue group we adopted her from saved her, so that we could in turn give her the forever home she so deserves!
